    Plaquenil for chronic pain

Since I have not taken it my chest feels so much better which is odd because chest pain is not listed as a side effect. Also I noticed that the Plaquenil I think was making me feel different but not in a good way.

Please I need to find out if anyone who has taken plaquenil has experienced back and hip pain. I started in Oct of 2011 taking 200 mg of plaquenil once a day. In April of 2012 I started taking 400 mg 2 x's a day. I did start to notice that I was having pain when I tried to sleep at night. Mostly in my arms hands and ankles. Hydroxychloroquine Plaquenil is a drug that is classified as an anti-malarial drug. Plaquenil is prescribed for the treatment or prevention of malaria. It is also prescribed for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and the side effects of lupus such as hair loss, joint pain, and more. Plaquenil hydroxychloroquine is a medication that has been used for many years to help musculoskeletal symptoms and fatigue in patients with autoimmune conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus and Sjögren’s.

Did you take yourself off Plaquenil, or did your doctor tell you to go off it? Plus I will be honest the whole eye site thing even though rare has always freaked me out. I went off of it to see if I can manage not being on it as my lupus isnt as severe as other cases but already I am feeling very fatigued and my legs feel heavy if that makes sense. I can discuss alternatives with my DR at my next appt but my DR feels as though the plaq is the best bet for my level of illness. If so are you just dealing with Lupus symptoms or did you take another med? I'm on Plaquenil, and after the first week's GI upset, I have had no problems with it.

Plaquenil reduces inflammation in many Rheumatic disorders, the mode of action is pretty complicated though so I shan't bore you with all the details, but basically it prevents your dendritic cells these are messengers for your immune system, if you will from interacting with your T-Cells a special type of white blood cell which through a convoluted and boring process, causes inflammation. Plaquenil has been a life-saving drug for me, quite literally. I was a mess in 2004-2005 and then a dr put me on Plaquenil, and in 3 weeks most of my symptoms had disappeared. Plaquenil pros and cons - Sclero Forums MAIN - Sclero Forums I may be wrong I often am! but I think there are more listed side effects for aspirin than there are for plaquenil; and by a very long shot, it would seem to be safer than steroids, especially for scleroderma patients. Basically, plaquenil's effect is to modulate the immune system, which is something that could be quite beneficial for some of us.
